Massage Therapy in Minneapolis at Northeast Chiropractic
Massage therapy is one of the most powerful tools available for managing pain, reducing stress, and supporting whole-body recovery.
At Northeast Chiropractic, massage is not an add-on or an afterthought. It is a core part of how we help patients heal.
Whether you’re coming in for relief from chronic muscle tension, recovering from an injury, managing stress, or looking to complement your chiropractic care, our licensed massage therapists are here to meet you where you are and build a session around what your body actually needs.
Our massage therapy services are available as standalone appointments or as part of a comprehensive chiropractic care plan. Either way, you will find the same thing: a relaxed, comfortable environment, skilled and attentive therapists, and treatment that goes beyond surface-level relief to address the root causes of your discomfort.

Chiropractic services and massage therapy are a natural pairing, and the results patients experience when combining both are consistently better than either approach alone.
Here is why that combination works so well. Chiropractic adjustments restore proper alignment in the spine and joints, but tight, restricted muscles and fascia can pull the body back out of alignment if they are not addressed as well.
Massage therapy releases soft tissue tension, making adjustments easier to perform, more comfortable to receive, and longer-lasting in their effects. When muscles are relaxed and pliable, the spine holds its corrected position more effectively between visits.
The relationship works the other way, too. Chiropractic care improves nerve function and reduces joint restrictions, creating a better environment for soft tissue healing. Patients who receive both chiropractic and massage therapy tend to recover faster, experience less recurring pain, and achieve better overall function than those receiving only one form of care.

Types of Massage Offered
Swedish Massage
A gentle, flowing style of massage that promotes full-body relaxation, improves circulation, and reduces general muscle tension. Swedish massage is a great starting point for patients new to massage therapy or those primarily seeking stress relief and recovery support.
Deep Tissue Massage
Targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using slower, more focused pressure. Deep tissue massage is particularly effective for chronic muscle tightness, postural dysfunction, and pain that has not responded to lighter approaches.
Sports Massage
Designed for active individuals, sports massage addresses the specific demands that training and competition place on the body. It can be used before activity to prepare muscles, after activity to support recovery, or as part of an ongoing maintenance routine to reduce injury risk and improve performance.
Trigger Point Therapy
Focuses on identifying and releasing hyperirritable spots within muscle tissue, known as trigger points, that refer pain to other areas of the body. Trigger point therapy is highly effective for patients with chronic pain patterns, tension headaches, and conditions like fibromyalgia.
Myofascial Release
A gentle, sustained technique that targets the fascia, the connective tissue network surrounding muscles and organs throughout the body. Restrictions in the fascia can cause widespread pain and limited mobility, and myofascial release works to free those restrictions and restore natural movement.
Prenatal Massage
Prenatal massage is a gentle, therapeutic treatment designed to support the physical and emotional well-being of expectant mothers. It may help reduce back pain, swelling, muscle tension, and stress while promoting relaxation, improved circulation, and greater comfort throughout pregnancy.
Cupping Therapy
Uses suction cups placed on the skin to lift and separate soft tissue layers, improving blood flow, reducing inflammation, and releasing deep fascial restrictions. Cupping is often used alongside other massage techniques to enhance results for patients dealing with chronic tightness or sluggish tissue recovery.
Hot Stone Massage
Smooth, heated stones are used to warm and relax muscle tissue, allowing the therapist to work more effectively through areas of significant tension. Hot stone massage combines the therapeutic effects of heat with hands-on technique for a deeply relaxing and restorative experience.

Every Chiropractic Service Starts With Massage
At Northeast Chiropractic, each chiropractic appointment begins with a short massage focused on the areas being treated that day.
This is not incidental. Warming up the surrounding muscles before an adjustment improves tissue responsiveness, reduces guarding, and allows the adjustment to be more precise and effective. It also makes the experience more comfortable, particularly for patients who are new to chiropractic care or dealing with significant muscle tension or an acute injury.
From your very first visit, you will notice that our approach is more thorough than a standalone adjustment, because we believe the preparation matters just as much as the treatment itself.
Every patient also receives a personalized take-home link after each appointment with video demonstrations of prescribed stretches and exercises, so recovery continues outside the clinic walls.
We offer same-day appointments and partner with Uber Health to help patients get to and from the clinic when driving is not an option.
The Benefits of Massage Therapy
Regular massage therapy offers a wide range of benefits that go well beyond relaxation. Patients who incorporate massage into their care experience improvements across multiple areas of health and function.
-
Pain relief. Massage reduces muscle tension, decreases inflammation, and interrupts pain signaling patterns in the nervous system. For both acute and chronic pain, consistent massage therapy can significantly reduce symptom intensity and frequency.
-
Reduced stress and anxiety. Massage activates the parasympathetic nervous system, lowering cortisol levels and promoting a state of calm. For patients dealing with chronic stress, regular massage has measurable effects on mood, sleep quality, and overall mental well-being.
-
Improved circulation. Massage stimulates blood and lymphatic flow, delivering oxygen and nutrients to healing tissue more efficiently and supporting the removal of metabolic waste products that contribute to soreness and sluggish recovery.
-
Greater flexibility and range of motion. Releasing muscle tension and fascial restrictions allows joints to move through their full range of motion with less resistance. Many patients notice a meaningful difference in how their body moves after just a few sessions.
-
Faster injury recovery. Soft tissue injuries heal more efficiently when circulation improves, inflammation is reduced, and the surrounding muscles are not compensating or guarding. Massage therapy accelerates that process.
-
Better sleep. The relaxation response triggered by massage carries over long after the appointment ends. Many patients report improved sleep quality as one of the most consistent and welcome side effects of regular massage therapy.
-
Support for mental health. The physical act of therapeutic touch has well-documented effects on emotional well-being. Massage can reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, improve body awareness, and create a sense of grounded calm that supports overall mental health alongside physical recovery.
